AHMEDABAD: This December, the campus of the Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad (IIM-A) will witness a rare sight. For once, the students of the country’s top management school will leave aside their books and pencils to clad themselves in worn-out jeans and leather jackets and take to some serious head banging.
The students of IIM-A are organizing a first-of-its-kind rock event where various bands from the city and outside will perform heavy metal and hard rock music.

The event will be organized by the students of the institute as part of the golden jubilee year celebrations. Talking about the event, co-ordinator of cultural committee at IIM-A, Vishnu Thurpati, said, "This will be the first time we are organizing an event on hard rock and that too at a very large scale."
Thurpati said, "The event aims to create a common platform for local bands to interact and perform together." While the cultural committee is yet to fix a date for the event, list of the bands that will be performing is already selected. "The concert is set to happen by around the second week of this month. The cultural committee has selected five bands to perform in the concert."
Along with two bands of local residents, including Zealous and Decade Souls, three other bands from Mumbai, including Bhayanak Mauk, Zygnema and Devoid, will be performing at the event.
Talking about the magnitude of the event, a student of IIM-A and a member of the cultural committee Deepak Iyer said, "We have a Facebook page about the concert where more than 1,000 people have signed in. As we will start selling passes around four days prior to the event and on the day of the concert, we are expecting to have a crowd more than 2,000 people." "We will organize one more geek after this one and that concert will also highlight at least a local band," said Thurpati, referring to their focus on local bands.
